Divulgare

Biological Invasions. This 3D animation video by the laboratory of Ecology and Evolution of plants and the Divulgare Group of the University of Vigo is meant to show the causes and mechanisms by which a species apparently stable in their natural ecosystem can become a "dangerous" invasive species when moved to a different geographic area. Also, some consequences that this phenomenon can cause on the colonized ecosystems and environmental infrastructures are shown. These consequences are illustrated with one of the most paradigmatic examples of biological invasion in Spain: the zebra mussel (Dreissena polymorpha).
