Marine Pollution Monitoring Programmes: The Importance of Sampling-based Strategies, Analytical Methods and Quality Assurance of Resources

Date of holding: 22/01/2014

During this course attention will be given to the consequences of global change and its impact on the coast, the hydrography and the dynamic of the oceans. The sessions will focus on research studies that describe how the rising sea levels affect the coastline, the effect of increasing global temperature and the variations of salinity, among others, based on numeric models and temporary studies. Moreover, the effect of global change on biochemical cycles and ocean resources will also be evaluated. It is also important to note the alterations in marine biodiversity resulting from global warming and the economic and legal impacts of this change, factors that are directly involved in the exploitation of the marine environment.
